Corporal THOMPSON was posted to No. 4 Army Co-operation Squadron as a W/T Operator and has carried out his duties in an outstanding manner. Whilst on duty at an advanced operational base, he has efficiently maintained communications between airborne aircraft and Squadron headquarters, on many occasions during enemy air raids and without relief for periods of up to twentyfour hours at a time.
On two occasions during enemy air attacks on the strip at Dobodura this airman, with complete disregard for his own safety, continued with his work of maintaining communications and so was directly responsible for the complete success of the missions in hand.
Corporal THOMPSON has carried on in the face of extreme technical difficulties and lack of equipment and has overcome these difficulties only by displaying outstanding initiative and resource.
