On his return from the Middle East Warrant Officer Saward was posted to a squadron where he carried out his duties splendidly and it was largely due to his untiring efforts that the Squadron was able to operate against the Japanese invasion fleet. In spite of illness he organised the servicing of guns, belting of ammunition, and fusing and loading of bombs for both his squadron and visiting aircraft under the most difficult and trying conditions. His untiring efforts and dogged determination have set an inspiring example to all members of the unit.
