Now on his second tour of operations, Flight Lieutenant WHITE has completed 285 hours of operational flying, and has participated in 94 sorties and 30 strikes. He is a pilot of outstanding ability and skill, who has displayed exceptonal courage and devotion to duty whilst flying against the enemy as a member of No. 78 (I/F) Squadron.

On June 3rd, 1944, he was leading a formation of aircraft over Biak Island, Dutch New Guinea, when contact was made with a number of enemy bombers and fighters. Flight Lieutenant WHITE skilfully placed his formation at the advantage, and he was personally credited with destroying two enemy aircraft bringing his total to five enemy aircraft destroyed.
