Distinguished Flying Cross

Squadron Leader TODD has carried out over 200 hours on Tac/R sorties against the enemy in the Borneo and Wewak campaigns and obtained information of great value to 6th, 7th and 9th Divisions.

Flying in Wirraway aircraft fitted with improvised long range tanks from Morotai to Labuan and operating from the minimum length strip, he personally provided Tac/R. at the earliest possible moment in the Borneo operations. Since then, flying with Wirraway and Boomerang aircraft and always at tree top height, he has been tireless in his efforts and an inspiration to young pilots in his command.

Unit: No. 4 Squadron, RAAF

Mentioned in Despatches

As commanding officer of No. 21 D/B Squadron, Squadron Leader TODD has led a number of successful strikes against the enemy and has at all times set an excellent example. Many of these strikes have been at low altitudes and in the face of enemy anti-aircraft fire, but he has invariably pressed home his attack regardless of opposition.

Squadron Leader TODD's courage, aggressive spirit, and sound leadership have contributed in no small measure to the success of the squadron which he commands.

Unit: No. 21 Squadron, RAAF
