Squadron Leader JONES has commanded No. 76 Squadron for the last six months, and this is his third operational tour in fighter Squadrons. During the past five weeks, his Squadron has had outstanding success, destroying four aircraft on the ground, thirty motor transport, seven fuel dumps, twenty-nine buildings, three barges and two luggers, and damaging seven motor transport and five aircraft on the ground. Much of this has been achieved while operating from an exceptionally short and narrow dirt strip at Labuan.

He has completed 261 hours of operational flying, and has carried out 146 operational sorties, including 52 strikes. He has assisted in the destruction in combat of one enemy aircraft, is credited with the probable destruction of another, and with damaging a third.

Squadron Leader JONES' outstanding leadership, devotion to duty and example have contributed greatly to the high morale and outstanding achievements of his Squadron.
