Since being posted to No. 6 GR/B Squadron on the 15th October, 1943, Squadron Leader HOSKINS has served as a flight commander. While flying in active operations against the enemy, he has displayed outstanding leadership and set a magnificent example to all members of the squadron.

He has participated in 20 strikes, 2 of which were night strikes against Rabaul Harbour and Lakunai Airstrip and the remainder were daylight strikes against targets in New Britain. On many of these strikes, Squadron Leader HOSKINS led the squadron and, on occasions, led the entire wing. During these daylight strikes, he frequently flew over the target at tree top level after the bombing to carry out strafing attacks and observe enemy dispositions.

Squadron Leader HOSKINGS is an expert and courageous pilot whose example has done much to build up the offensive spirit of the squadron.

Squadron Leader HOSKINS, prior to enlistment in the Royal Australian Air Force, was employed by the New South Wales Aero Club, where he completed 400 hours' flying instruction with RAAF Cadets.

On enlistment in the Service, he was posted to CFS staff where he completed 2,000 hours on all phases of CFS flying duties.

On subsequent completion of an operational tour, he was posted to AFRU, Deniliquin, as Group Commander, and then appointed Chief Flying Instructor at the same unit. He was posted to CFS as Chief Flying Instructor on 1st October, 1945, and he still retains that post.
