Wing Commander HOLSWICH enlisted in the Permanent Air Force as an air cadet on 4th December, 1933, and was appointed to a commission with the rank of Pilot Officer on 1st July, 1934.
This officer was posted to command No. 13 Squadron on 7th June, 1942, and was responsible for the completion of the reorganization of the ground echelon and completing the training of the air crews during a period when the unit was engaged in active operations against the enemy.
He has displayed qualities of leadership in the air and sound administrative ability which has been reflected in the initiative and courage demonstrated on the numerous reconnaissances and photographic missions of the utmost importance undertaken by this unit which have contributed greatly to the success achieved by the Allied forces.
Wing Commander HOLSWICH has completed 206 operational hours' flying including ten strikes and seven sea reconnaissances. His devotion to duty has been an inspiration in maintaining the high standard of morale of his unit.
